Synopsis:

From USA Today best-selling author, Willow Winters, comes a tempting tale of fated love, lust-filled secrets and the beginnings of an epic war.

His chiseled jaw and silver gaze, I’ve only ever gotten a glimpse of, haunts both my nightmares and my dreams.

There’s a treaty between us and them; mere mortals and the ones who terrify but keep us safe. The contract demands that every year there’s an offering and this year I’ll walk across that stage presenting myself.
We have no idea what to expect if they choose someone, they haven’t in generations.
The only thing we know is that the ones they take belong to them forevermore. If chosen, you don’t come back, or so the story of the treaty goes.

Gather and present yourself.
This is the offering…
… and I… belong to him.

Review

Grace and Elizabeth (Lizzie) are best friends living together and working to earn their way for college while working at the bookstore. They live in the quiet town of Shadow Falls, and all is normal…or so it seems. Each year, their town organizes an event called the “offering.” This ceremony stems from a treaty formed between mortals and werewolves to keeps the town safe.

During the “offering,” a commotion separated Grace and Lizzie. In the commotion, Grace and Lizzies’ stories ran simultaneously with each of their “captors.” The stories run with multi-POVs, so readers get to catch up on what is going on faster. The first part is between Grace and Devin, while the other is with Lizzie, Dom, and Caleb. Even with their individual stories, the book connects nicely as Grace and Lizzie realize how they will have to fit into the werewolf pack.

The first of the stories happening was Grace and Devin’s story. Their first encounter was the steamy, hot! I was sucked into their connection immediately as Grace explains everything she was going through in his presence. She had a hard time realizing that she was one of the chosen offerings to the werewolves. Grace is a human and not anything special, so her knowledge about them is limited. It was a shock to her when she learned about the town’s mystical side and where werewolves stand. Grace is unable to explain the strong connection she has with Devin. It took her a bit of time to rationalize what was going on. Grace had to open her mind to the special relationship she has with Devin.

Will Grace be able to accept her new fate in the werewolf pack?

The second story is Lizzie, Dominik (“Dom”), and Caleb’s. Their story interweaves each other in an unusual coincidence that goes back to Dom’s parents. The pace is slower than Grace/Devin’s because there were more things to take in, mainly due to Lizzie’s childhood background. Dom and Caleb’s connection to Lizzie was strong, and yet, compared to Grace, Lizzie could not even feel a flicker, which puzzled everyone.

Before Lizzie met Grace, her story is all about escaping the life that she was born into and was unfortunate to witness at a young age. Her story is dark and sad. It brings about abuse that may trigger, so count this as a warning. But do not let this hinder you from reading her story because Lizzie’s past is only a small one compared to the life she would have within the pack. She keeps her true identity from Grace in the hopes of forgetting her past and live a normal life.

Will Caleb and Dom help Lizzie realize her destiny in the pack, or will she reject it and fall further into her dark place?

Overall, I liked the direction Wounded Kiss was taking me. The plot has a gripping story that talks about survival, fated connection, and redemption.

It captures the imagination as early as the start of the chapter. It brings readers into the forefront of the challenges of mortals and werewolves coexisting in the hopes of survival and, eventually, forever mates.

The book may be short since it’s a short novella and is part series, To Be Claimed. Nonetheless, this book was a lot to take in as it lays out the ground-work for bigger things in the coming books. There were background flashbacks, steamy scenes (a must!), and more paranormal sharing that readers will greedily gobble up!

I cannot wait for the next books to come!

Excerpt

The chains fell off his chest and arms and pooled around his waist. His freedom swept through him in ragged breaths.

She gazed at him with stiff lines of determination on her face, an expression he’d seen a hundred times, the unwavering glare that tortured him, aroused him, conjured his nightmares, and filled his dreams.

He memorized each twitch of her lashes, the delicate point of her raised chin, every faltered breath. He was consumed with having her and terrified to lose her.

“Tell me what you’re thinking.” He reached up to brush his fingers through her thick dark hair.

She recoiled before his hand made contact. A blank mask fell over her face, a wall of ice slamming between them. She moved to the driver seat and faced forward.

His momentary calm burst into a roaring fire. Hands fisting, heart pounding, he didn’t know what to do with the fury burning through his veins. He tagged his jeans and boots from the floorboard and jumped out.

He dressed as he walked, jerking on his boots, kicking branches out of his path. His muscles heated, and sweat slicked his bare chest, chilling in the night air. He wasn’t angry at her. He was angry for her. The abuse done to her body. The helplessness of her situation. His inability to free her.

He slammed a fist into the nearest tree trunk. Again. Again. Pain ricocheted through his hand, down his arm, and fed his breaking heart.

Out of the corner of his eye, he caught her silhouette standing a few yards away. A slender shadow, shrouded by darkness. And in her raised arms, she held a gun, trained on him.

He threw another fist. Absorbed the burn. Expelled the rancor. He knew she was holding a gun on him to prevent him from running and putting her family at further risk. Regardless, she wouldn’t shoot him. Not because she needed a slave, but because she loved what was hers with a self-destructing passion.

He faced her and held out his arms. “I’m yours.”

The girl and the gun didn’t move.

“Lose the damned mask and stop hiding from me.” He raked his throbbing hands through his hair. “Scream, cry, hit something. Hit me. But for God’s sake, let it out.”

The shadowy lines of her body wavered. The gun lowered, returned to her boot.

He stretched out his arms, savoring the cool breeze brushing over his unrestrained skin. “I stand here without rope or chains, Liv, tethered to you by my own will.” His blood beat with the ferocity of his words. “I won’t be free until you are.”

Her head jerked back, her body rigid. Then she walked straight to him and unleashed her fists on his chest. She clobbered him over and over, her gasps accelerating with each fall of her hand.

The lashing didn’t hurt. Not like the whimpers rising from her chest. She was hurting, lashing out for the wrongs that had been done to her. A sharp pain swelled in his throat. The only thing he could do was take it in, try to bear some of it for her.

He held his arms out and his body open. When her hits ebbed into weak slaps, she stumbled back, hugging herself and clutching her elbows.

His heartbeat slogged through the ache in his chest. He kept his arms outstretched and whispered, “I’m here.”

Disbelief widened the whites of her eyes, and her breath caught. He waited.

In two running steps, she launched at him, climbed up his chest, and curled her hands in his hair. He lifted her, pinning the curves of her thighs around his hips, and took her mouth. His knuckles burned with fever, but the heat from her lips was overriding. She whispered kisses over his jaw, around his mouth, caressing, assuring.

He angled his head, deepening the reach of his tongue and drinking her in lick by lick. Her hands in his hair, the sweetness of her breath filling his mouth, there will never be another kiss like hers. She knew how to suck his lips and trap his tongue in a way that stroked every nerve ending in his body. More than that, she knew how to reach inside him. She found him, her ferocity defying the odds and pivoting them into place, perfectly interlocked.

Her thighs squeezed around his waist, her breasts soft against his chest. He palmed her backside with a cautious gentleness, and chased her tongue, spiraling, stretching deeper, falling heart-first into an existence where only she mattered.

“You’re smarter than about ninety-nine percent of the population, aren’t you?”

Katherine nodded. “That would be fairly accurate. I also went to college early, so normal socialization was stunted. Most of the girls in my college classes didn’t want to spend time with a fifteen-year-old, and I can’t really blame them.”

“Fifteen? That’s brutal.”

Katherine shrugged. “I didn’t get along with anyone in my high school either. At least they mostly left me alone in college.” High school? Not as much.

“I guess,” Toni said. “Megan has you figured out. She doesn’t think you’re patronizing.”

Katherine felt an immediate warmth. “I don’t know why the two of you didn’t get along, but she’s very nice. She’s an honest person. I appreciate that.”

“She has like, zero filter.”

“Yes. I find it to be a huge relief.”

“You can’t just say everything that comes to your mind.”

Katherine frowned and examined Toni’s assertion more closely. “But you can. You might offend people, but you can actually say everything that comes to mind.”

Toni shook her head. “Not if you want to remain living in my family.”

“Good to know.” Katherine made a mental note to avoid Toni’s family. “Megan has an excellent mind and she sees things in interesting ways. I like her perspective, and she’s decided that she and I are going to be friends. We’re having wine on Wednesday.”

“Wine Wednesday? Is this like Taco Tuesday?”

“Maybe? It happens on my deck and we just started so I don’t really know all the rules. Just that there’s wine on Wednesday and we’re having it at my house because I have a great deck and an ocean view.”

Toni made a face. “Careful, you have her over for too much Wednesday wine, you might not be able to get rid of her.”

It bothered Katherine that Toni had such a negative reaction to Megan. She didn’t understand the root of it, but she would find out.

“You probably have lots of friends,” Katherine said. “You grew up here. You have a big family. Megan and I don’t.”

“Her? She’s like Malibu Barbie with a Southern accent. The chicks who drive their Mercedes SUVs into my garage probably fell all over her when she moved here.”

Katherine enjoyed the way that Toni painted mental pictures. It made understanding her intentions much easier. “You might think that, but I don’t think it’s true. She said she finds people here very cold. I think she’s had a hard time making friends.”

“Huh.” Toni’s eyebrows rose. “Well, maybe I’ll join you for Wine Wednesday then.”

“So you’re admitting that the three of us are all exhibiting para-psychological phenomena and we have something in common?”

“Para-psychological—?”

“Psychic stuff.” Better to stick with layman’s terms. “We’re all doing psychic stuff now.”

“Yes. Fine.” She rolled her eyes again. “Whatever. We’re doing psychic stuff and I don’t understand it, but I’d like to figure out what to do with it. Can I come on Wednesday or what?”

Katherine smiled. “Of course.”

* * *

Katherine didn’t warn Megan that Toni was coming, so two days later when the silver-grey vintage Mustang convertible parked in front of Katherine’s house on North Beach Drive, Megan’s eyes went wide.

Toni stepped out of the car holding a bottle of wine and wearing a grim expression, dark blue jeans, and a mustard yellow t-shirt with “Shift Happens” written on the front.

Megan stood and pointed at her. “I knew it!” She set down her wine glass. “I knew you knew it wasn’t just in our heads!”

Toni looked around and waved her hand in a ‘sit down’ motion. “Just chill, okay? I went in to see the professor—see Katherine—yesterday.” She glared at Katherine. “I thought she was going to tell you.”

Katherine sipped her wine. “Oh no, I was far too interested in observing this interaction.”

Megan was all smiles, her previous irritation with Toni seeming to melt away at the woman’s willing appearance on Katherine’s deck. “See? Three of us now. There’s something special about three.”

“Don’t get excited, Atlanta.” Toni set down the bottle of red. “This is from my cousin’s winery, but I didn’t just bring it because I got it for free. It’s actually good.”

“Your cousin has a winery?” Megan’s eyes lit up. “That’s so cool.”

“If you can think of a job on the Central Coast, from wine maker to electrician to marine biologist, I can almost promise I have a cousin doing it.”

“Big family?”

“I have forty-two first cousins,” Toni said. “And almost all of them have reproduced, so you can imagine.”

“So now that we’re all speaking to each other,” Katherine said, “what do you think happened two weeks ago? And what do you think we should do about all this… psychic stuff?”

“I don’t have an answers for the first question,” Megan said. “But check this out.” She reached out her hand and her wine glass scooted an inch to the left. “It’s getting stronger.”

“Oh yeah.” Toni reached into her pocket and brought out a corkscrew. “I’m definitely going to need alcohol for this conversation.”

“Good Girls Don’t” – The Knack

Lucy’s Copacetic Shagadelic Mixtape, Song #6

LUCY

Saturday morning, it’s hot and sticky for August. By the time I get to church, every crease of my dress is damp and my stocking-encased legs feel like sausages, so the cool and dark of the confessional is welcome. I kneel and make the sign of the cross just as the screen slides open and Father Signorelli says the usual greeting—in Latin, even though he’s supposed to have switched to the post-Vatican II form. I’m glad our church still does things the traditional way. When I went to the Newman Center the few months I was at UMass, getting general absolution didn’t feel like enough, but the alternative they offered—sitting face to face to confess to a priest—was too embarrassing.

I dab my brow with a tissue before beginning. “Bless me father, for I have sinned. It’s been two weeks since my last confession. These are my sins. I snapped at a coworker because she asked me some irritating questions, and I yelled at my brothers for leaving their dishes in the sink. I have been uncharitable toward an old, um… friend because I’m still angry at him for things he did a long time ago. I talked him into buying things he didn’t need to because… because I wanted him to suffer.”

“Hmm. Those are unbecoming behaviors in a young woman.”

“Yes, Father. For these and any other sins that I cannot remember, I humbly ask pardon of God and penance and absolution of thee, Father.”

“Do your rosary and say five Our Fathers for your penance.”

I bow my head, say the Act of Contrition and do my best to focus as Father prays for my forgiveness.

When I step out of the box and into the incense-laden air, the weight of my sins doesn’t lift from my shoulders like it usually does, probably because I neglected to confess the many, many lustful thoughts that’ve set up camp in my nether regions.

I guess you could argue that I’m preventing harm by omitting those sins because if Father Signorelli heard what I’ve been up to alone in my bed at night, he’d surely have a stroke.

When I return from my lunch break on Monday, I’m greeted by Cindy in full-on puppy mode.

“Oh my god, that Ben Porter left you a message, Lucy!”

Stowing my purse in my locker, I spend more time than necessary changing back into my scrub top. I spent the break running errands—picking up a prescription for my dad and stocking up on toiletries for the family while I was at the pharmacy. I might’ve also picked up a few magazines which might just happen to contain a few revealing photos of Ben. It isn’t a sin to just look, right?

When I close my locker door, Cindy’s right there on the other side. “Isn’t that exciting?”

“Yes?” A balloon of hope floats up. I haul it back down to earth. No need to get all excited. He probably just has another question about the dog. I scan the corkboard where notes are usually pinned up. “Where’s the message?”

She finally stops bouncing up and down. “He didn’t call. He came in while you were out and I got to talk to him.” She whispers this like it’s the most exciting thing to have happened in weeks. Maybe it is. Although watching a dog yak up an entire package of tube socks last week was pretty entertaining.

“Oh. Okay.” I keep my tone cool, with some effort. “What was the message?”

“He asked me to ask you if you’d train his dog so it can be in a play! I wish I knew about animal training! How did you learn?” She grabs my forearm. “Do you need an assistant?”

Not sure where to start, I just nod. And then shake my head no. By the time my head’s circling, I realize something. “Did he leave a number?”

Cindy narrows her eyes. “Don’t you have his number?”

I don’t want to think about all this right now, so I exit the breakroom. “I guess I can get it from his chart if it’s not the same.”

She’s at my heels, nipping away with her questions. “Same what?”

“Um. Same everything. Number, house. Because he’s like… famous now?”

“Are you sure you really grew up with him?”

“Yep. I’m sure I did.”

Her smooth brow crinkles. “No offense, but you seem a lot older than him.”

“He’s three years older than me, Cindy.”

“So, he’s like mid-thirties?”

I stifle a sigh. Cindy’s only eighteen, so everyone is old to her. “Just FYI, Cindy, I’m twenty-five.”

“Not even! I thought you were way older than that.”

My brows go up as I stare her down.

“I mean, like, in a good way. Like you majorly have your shit together.”

“Uh-huh.”

Three bells sound, indicating that an owner is in for a pickup. I’ll take any excuse to escape from the interrogation, so I press the button indicating that I’ll grab the post-surgical cat. “I’m not sure I’ll have time, anyway.”

She follows me. “But you were saying you were trying to save money for that certification course. If he’s a rich model, charge him extra.”

She’s driving me crazy, but she has a point. How much money would it be worth to risk further stirring up the grief I thought I’d buried years ago?

Opening the cage to ease out a still groggy but now stitched-up and gonad-free cat, I whisper, “Hey, buddy, time to go home.”

Cindy, still at my elbow, closes the cage. “When was the last time you saw him anyway? I mean, before now.”

“Seven years ago.” Until last week, the last time I saw him was at my brother’s wake. But she doesn’t need to know that. “Things… ended badly.”

Talk about understatement of the year.

“Seven years! Lucy, jeez. Seven years ago, I was in elementary school! That’s forever ago. Forgive and forget already.” A single bell sounds, letting us know that a new client needs to be moved to an exam room. “Do you still want the cat discharge, or whatever’s behind door number one?”

I hand over the cat. “I’ll take the new patient.” I don’t have any ex-boyfriends left to surprise me, so I walk briskly to the waiting room, eager for a distraction. Whether it’s an engorged tick to be removed or a puppy needing its shots or a busted-up tomcat, taking care of an animal is always preferable to listening to my inner monologue.

Deciding what to do about Ben will have to wait.

Anthology Review

Overall, this anthology got me into the Fall/Thanksgiving spirit. There is a good chunk of love, redemption, tear-jerker moments that made each of these short stories want to dive into them again and reminisce the “moments.” They were easy to follow and relatable to most points of our lives. The plots are as good as the next, even with different author voices, POV, and writing styles. They all merged and worked well. The length is a right mix of a compact chapter or two while the others get a bit longer but not longer than ten chapters. It worked for readers like me who currently have too many interruptions but want to enjoy a short break from my everyday madness. There is an excellent mix of contemporary romance tropes like second chances, age-gap, student-teacher mix, angsty love, alpha dominants, bully/enemies-to-friends, small-town romance, siblings-best friend, and single parent.

It was tough to pick only one for the nine stories in this anthology because they were memorable. But as of I narrowed my favorites into two that left me with lasting impressions.

My favorites are: Remembering You by Brittany Tarkington AND Taking the Fall by TK Cherry.

This anthology is worth each penny! Do check my comments on each of the stories below for a better overview.

Individual Short Stories Review

Lucky Guess by Amanda Richardson

I usually stay away from short stories since it can get pretty forced, but this was NOT THE CASE for Lucky Guess! I did not feel this! I was surprised at how I dived in with no apprehension and believed everything!
Lucky Guess is a steamy short story packed with so much insta-attraction that it took my breath away.
Bellamy (what an awesome name) and Joseph have connected on a different level – a more profound connection that meant something from the first time Joseph laid eyes on her. I wish the story would continue more! I believe that there is more to Joseph’s quiet demeanor and Bellamy’s past to make this short story into a novel.

Remembering You by Brittany Tarkington

Remembering You was amazing! I do not know how, but when I first entered the chapter, everything clicked. Readers will be brought right in the middle of the scene where Sydney finds her way out of a maze at night. I do not know why someone would choose to enter a maze at night and alone!?! Maybe I am a Scaredy-cat, but I seriously thought that the anthology made a mistake and inserted a murder mystery in it!
Hilarious, I am sure, but no, this all developed into something more for Sydney when she bumps into the boy from her past right in the middle of the maze.

Shady by Callie Rae

Shady is a story of Laura, whose nickname is Shady. The book is told from Nikolas and Shady’s POV. They have a past together that did not work out that ended up Shady “disappearing.”
The story did not elaborate on Nico and Shay’s relationship until the last two chapters. I enjoyed how both parties were hesitant about how they want things to be. There were serious talks between Nico and Shady and some light humor, which balances well because Nico and Shady’s pasts were not pretty – full of disappointments.
The flashbacks would make readers laugh, smile, and snicker while showing Nico’s and Laura’s playful and flirtatious connection. What could have made the Laura “Shady” run away from her life and disappear?
The Shady and Nico’s banter was cute and understandable because of the secrets that came with it. In true Callie Rae style, Shady offers suspense until the very end. The secrets to protect Shady and Nico from “the rest of the world” cames out at the very end. I was literally on the edge of my seat.

A New Beginning by E.K. Woodcock

Abigail “Abi” and her mom moves into another county after her father/husband passed away in an unexpected accident. Abi’s new home is situation coincidentally next to the most popular kid in school. Too bad that Cole turned into Abi’s tormentor. Instead of making Abi feel welcome to the school, Cole’s mission in life was to make Abi’s life difficult. Cole has his secrets and reasons for being the way he is. This story will expose both Abi and Cole’s secrets. I got nervous about what would happen in the end, but until the very last chapter – things got wrapped up nicely in the end. This story is told from both Cole and Abi’s POV.

Hey, Pumpkin by Jami Denise

Ruby Hawthorne is a single parent getting through life. She is independent, fierce, and handles her ax like a pro. She has to deal with pesky pranksters on her family farm while making ends meet for her daughter and father. The Hawthorne pumpkin patch is one of the season’s more demanding times. But with the farm’s crops being destroyed each night, taking care of an injured elderly, and parenting a teenager, she is at her wits-end on being responsible. The list grows longer each day, and she was getting frustrated.
The first thing to do was track down the group of hooligans who kept destroying her pumpkin harvest, which brings here into an interesting coincidence of the sorts. It started at a diner and ended up in bed. Does this sound interesting? It sure is!
The chapter is short, and the POV is only from Ruby’s side. Even this, the character descriptions were clear and hilarious. The plot was simple, but I liked the humor aspects of the story that made it endearing. I love that readers still get Ruby’s backstory in short, concise moments. Meeting Ruby’s “mystery diner-counter-mate” was a sizzling (!) and a surprise that turned out so much better for Ruby in the end.

Pumpkin Pie by Lily Alexander

This story is a clean, good ol’ fun, and easy-going rom-com.
Shannon realizes she overcommitted to her sister to make a special fall craft arrangement for the Fall Festival. Being a twin has not been easy after being compared to her upbeat and easy-going sister, Shawna. It has its ups and downs, but it seems that she’s the “unlucky twin” on everything versus Shawna. Good thing, a little flower delivery man helped turned things around for Shannon. The story is short and cute that readers will not know that it is the end until you see the world “the end” because it was very engaging!

Forbidden by S.L. Sterling

Bree Walker’s had the unfortunate timing of breaking down on her way home from a funeral. In comes, tough, brooding Sebastian with his alpha-male swagger brand to the rescue and the bar owner that Bree found herself to contact help.
The attraction was steamy and not instant on Sebastian’s side since he knows her from his past. A past that he promised will not go back. What happens between the bar and Bree getting home was full of unexpected scenarios that involved a “clubhouse,” “overly friendly friends,” an attraction that would be epic!
Based on the other books in the anthology, this story is a different take on romance wherein it is darker, full of brut men, but there is a “satisfying ending” (pun intended!) that will take readers to surprised. My jaw dropped! It gives a good flavor of what romance and falling for someone can come at the oddest of circumstances.

Taking the Fall by TK Cherry

This story tells us never to judge a story by its chapters. It is short, but the technique used was a novel one in getting the emotions across.
It was sad and challenging to read through Leslie’s ordeal since the words were so profound, and it was tearing me apart, but a good thing, Adrian did right by her.
Readers do not have all the information because Leslie’s POV was the only information we get. Things seem to be the reverse – moving to a not so HEA, but it turned out a bit different from how they first perceived after the first chapter.
I love how the author placed a lot of mystery in the chapters until the very end when one revelation after another would come out from the side of Leslie while we forget the side of Adrian.
I was pleased with how it turned out on his second chance. I love how happy Leslie and Adrian are from the Epilogue – it was beautiful!
I am still shocked at how much the author can place in just a few chapters but always felt like I read a 20 chapter book, and made me feel everything! It was stealth and cunning writing. Kudos to TK!

The Consequences of Leaving by Victoria Ellis

What an ender! If I thought I could escape shedding a tear on a short story, I am sorely wrong. Sorry, it took a lot in me since it deals with a loss that I see in my friends. It’s a loss that would tear anyone apart but aside from being left behind is another. It showed how Ivy was brave enough to have Miles stay. Thus, coming from Taking the Fall that spanned a few years, this story spans longer (in the decades or so). This story has so much pain and anguish, but I was happy that even after all the “loss” in Ivy’s life, she was able to turn her life around and found her HEA.

Meet Amanda Richardson

I’m a photographer turned travel writer turned indie romance author (a jack of all trades?) I write books with relatable heroines and charismatic, mysterious heroes. So, how’d I go from a travel writer to a romance author? I won a prestigious travel writing award, got gifted with a huge travel writing assignment… and was then told by my mentor that my writing was better suited to writing books. So here I am!
I live in Los Angeles with my husband, two adorable sons, and two cats. I’m a coffee lover (plain with just a splash of milk, in case you were wondering) and my husband and I collect houseplants like they’re going out of style. I’m obsessed with the royal family (my first book was a romantic mystery involving a descendant of the Tudors… it will never see the light of day…) and I love to travel. Even though travel writing didn’t work out, I still dream up rich settings for each of my books.

Meet Brittany Tarkington

Hi! I’m Brittany! I’m from East Texas where I live with my husband, son, and two dogs. I have a degree in Criminal Justice, and I used to work as a legal assistant for a criminal defense firm. These days I’m a writer and co-owner of Magnolia and Pine. I have a love-hate relationship with both CrossFit and wine. I have my days and nights mixed up, and I spend most of my time doing everything I can to avoid being productive.
I’ve always had a crazy imagination and I love writing. So, I started writing Forever Careless at the age of 21 to see if I had it in me. It was too much fluff for me, however my friends loved it. So, I wrote another; this time I pushed to boundaries of fluff.
One day, while in a very bad mood, I thought of a story without a happy ending. One with real problems and real people. A story that was very close to my heart. It nagged me constantly. Months later, I sat down and started Hazed. At first, he was going to be apart of the Forever Series. Just come in and wreck their lives. Instead, I went another route. Only weeks later, Hazed was finished. I was obsessed with it.
It took me over a year to finish my first novel and weeks to finish this one. I knew what that meant. I liked to write about bad people who do bad things. I like to get inside their minds and feel their crazy. So, if you’re looking for hearts and flowers, you won’t find them here. My stories are real and they aren’t pretty.

Lily is a Colorado native enjoying the fantastic climate of Southern California with her family and cranky cat after surviving more than a decade in hot, humid places where hurricanes get their own season and Winter is a myth.

As an only child she grew up inventing elaborate stories for her dolls to act out. She started word processing on a computer around age 10 and never looked back. After suffering the heartbreak of catastrophic drive failure a regrettable number of times, she has finally learned to back things up appropriately and often.
